| Description | I'm trying to use the CCDCiel with an ATIK 383L+ mono trough Ascom. All seems to work fine when I use other binning that 1x1. On 1x1 when I try to do a capture the camera do the exposure and then on status it said it downloads the picture... but it never ends this download phase and neither it creates the file on the disk.. The stop button still works and I can cancel the process. I'm aware that the download takes some time on binning 1x1 and I waited a lot each time with no result(about 5-7 minutes on each test) . As I said this is working fine with anyother binning set than 1x1 ( tested with 2x2 , 3x3, 4x4 ) The capture is working corectly with the original Atik software (Artemis CCD) on the same machine on every binning set. The CCDCiel is also connected to the telescope mount ( a CPC800 ) and to cartes du ciel software. The CCDCiel was downloaded and installed last week so I presume is the last version. If I can do other tests/configuration changes I'm available to help. | ||||

I try to reproduce the problem with my Atik 314L+ but it work fine in 1x1. The only solution to debug this problem is I send you a special version with a lot of trace message to find where it failed. I give you a download link when it is ready. |

Can you try with the program version in the ccdciel.zip file attached to this issue. Unzip in your Document folder, then copy ccdciel.exe in "C:\Program Files\ccdciel\", allowing to replace the file. Also be sure you use the last Atik Ascom driver. It is installed part of SetupArtemisUniversal-4.1.2.0 With this test version of ccdciel, connect the camera (no need for the mount) and start a short exposure in bin 1x1. Copy here the log from the log window or the logfile. Sure. I will try to help with anyhthing you need. ( My daily job is as software developer so anything I can do to help I'm open to try ) There is just a "small" problem. My observatory computer has crashed during an observing session last friday night.. and it seems the mainboard is completely dead.. so I will be able to give you some feedback probably only after wednesday next week ( when I will have a new computer with everything I need installed on it ). I also want to confirm that my tests was made with the Atik driver instaled from the provided CD (I've bought the camera three weeks ago and first time i've isntalled the software from the cd in the box). Last week I've upgraded all Atik stuff from their website but unfortunately I didn't have the chance to repeat the test before the mainboard crash. The exposures from that night was made exclusivly with artemis caputre software. I'll get back with the results as soon I will be able run the tests. |

I've finaly managed to perform today the required tests. I've proceeded in the folowing manner. First I installed the drivers from the original CD and I performed the following test: Start the software / Conect to camera / Expose on binning 2x2 (with success) / Expose on binning 1x1 Then I've updated the drivers to last version from the website (ArtemisUniversal...4.1.2.1) rebooted and repeated the same test. Thank you for this log. The problem is probably because I not allow enough time for the big image to download from the camera to the PC. Also as I never see this case with my small camera the timeout handling was incorrect. Can you try with the version in the ccdciel-test2.zip I upload here. It must show more information about the camera status when waiting for the image and the timeout value must be sufficient for your camera. |

Yes... now it worked fine with the last version you gave me. Indeed the 383L has a prety big chip ( bigger than 314 ) which implies a considerably longer download time on binnig 1x1. I measured the download time also with artemis capture is around 12 seconds.. Yes, the timeout was 10 seconds, just too short. Now it is 60 seconds and must be reached only in case of problem with the camera. Status=4 when the driver download the image from the camera, from your log it take about 10 seconds. You can get the new version 0.8.8 with this fix.
