Summary0002066: No texture at all
DescriptionI'm having the same "no textures" problem as issue 0001986, plus fonts only show as little blocks.

Running on openSUSE Leap 15.0.

Graphics hardware:
Graphics: Device-1: NVIDIA GP107 [GeForce GTX 1050] driver: nvidia v: 390.87
           Display: x11 server: X.Org 1.19.6 driver: nvidia resolution: 1920x1080~60Hz, 1920x1080~60Hz
           OpenGL: renderer: GeForce GTX 1050/PCIe/SSE2 v: 4.6.0 NVIDIA 390.87

Strangely enough on my Laptop, running the same openSUSE version, but a newer nvidia driver through optirun, it works just fine.
Steps To Reproducetry to use atlun.

This is a strange problem with the Nvidia drivers since a few years now. Maybe this is because the program use OpenGL 1.1 and this no more the Nvidia priority?
I find the Nvidia drivers packaged with the distributions generally do not work, but sometime work for a few month until the next upgrade.
I try to debug the issue but it look like the texture are silently ignored by the driver.

A solution that work every time is to compile the driver with glvnd-glx disabled. In fact this issue started with the introduction of this library.
I give detailed information here:
https://www.ap-i.net/avp/en/nvidia_linux

At the moment I use the version 390-87 compiled this way.
Do this work if you compile the driver on the desktop?

hm.. to make this even more confusing:

I looked at how the nvidia-optimus install builds the driver, and glvnd-glx is not explicitely disabled in there.

Graphics hardware on my laptop:

Graphics: Device-1: Intel Haswell-ULT Integrated Graphics driver: i915 v: kernel
           Device-2: NVIDIA GM108M [GeForce 840M] driver: nvidia v: 410.93
           Display: x11 server: X.Org 1.19.6 driver: intel,modesetting resolution: 1366x768~60Hz
           OpenGL: renderer: GeForce 840M/PCIe/SSE2 v: 4.6.0 NVIDIA 410.93

and atlun works fine on both graphics cards.

So i upgraded the drivers on my desktop to the G05 packages, which basically replaces the 390.87 drivers with the latest 410.93.

still doesn't work right... but you know what, i don't care, as long as it works all right on my laptop which is the one i'll have with me up on the hill at night.

Same issue with desktop computer, Gentoo Linux 64bits, 4.19.52-gentoo kernel, GeForce GTX 1060 6GB graphic device and nvidia 430.26 driver.

Yes, this issue is probably not fixable in VMA.

But the solution to compile the nvidia driver with the option --no-glvnd-glx-client still work.

Unfortunately, with this option, nvidia-drivers causes Xorg segfault at start.

I'm having this issue with the latest nvidia driver **and the intel driver now** - so VMA is basically unusable on any of my computers.
