Its been doing this for the past few weeks and there was a OS update done by Windows.

At the moment I only have such report on Windows Vista.
In this case it was always fixed by updating the graphic card drivers.
Can you also try to upgrade the driver ?

I just updated the graphic card driver as per your request and I am getting the same error.

When I attempt to quit either using the red X button or quit in the file menu, the program locks up and says its not responding.

I have to use the Ctrl-Alt-Delete function to close out the program.

Can you try to disable the graphic hardware acceleration to be sure the problem is not related to the graphic driver.
(Display setting -> Advanced setting -> Troubleshoot, put the cursor to None)
Then launch VMA.

Version 5 was released today, it include a major rewrite of the software and it is likely this issue is solved.

Can you download and try with version 5:
http://www.ap-i.net/avl/en/start

Anyway it would be easier for me to follow the issues now the base code is stabilized.
